A class of Grade 10 students dropped by Points West Living Wainwright recently, and because it was a Wednesday afternoon, they got to join in the weekly bingo game. But it wasn’t just any bingo game. It was organized to maximize interaction among the teens and the residents.

Recreation coordinator Jenna Hopaluk says, “I put about 20 ‘Reserved for a Student’ tags out on the tables so the students would be mixed in among our residents rather than having a table of students and a table of residents.”

She also placed a bingo card and a playing card at each spot. Jenna says, “We played a partner style of bingo to increase the odds of winning. I used two decks of playing cards to make the matches, so if a person who won had a 3 of clubs, whoever had the other 3 of clubs would also win.”

Once bingo began, there was a lot of excitement and fun. After the game, residents and the students continued to visit over refreshments.
